The volume contains a table that lists the summons of cases heard by the Police Magistrate between January 1873 and October 1874. Each page is divided into a table recording the number of the summons, the date, the names of the complainant and the defendant, their residence, their trade, profession or calling (for women it only states whether they were single or married), the office, place and date of the commission, the names of the witnesses, when the summons were to be returned and how the case was dealt with. There is extensive water damage on the cover, spine, and bottom parts of the pages. The edges of the paper are breaking away.
