The volume contains cases brought before the Police Magistrate in the Police Court at Freetown between 9 June and 23 October 1882. It contains an index that lists the cases by name of the defendant, and provides the page number in the volume. The reports of cases provide information on the date, the name of the Police Magistrate, the plaintiff and the defendant, the offence, whether the prisoner pleaded guilty, and the sentence given. Information is sometimes provided about the oath of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, or of witnesses. The volume is bound in blue cloth boards. There is extensive water damage. The paper is brittle and some edges of the paper are breaking away. Some of the pages are torn, and have been repaired with tape.
