The volume contains information on cases brought to the Police Court at Freetown before the Police Magistrate between 21 September 1885 and 31 May 1886. For each case, information is provided on the date, the name of the Police Magistrate, the plaintiff and the defendant. It also includes information on the offence, whether the prisoner pleaded guilty, and the sentence given. It sometimes includes the oath of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, or of witnesses. The length of a case varies from a paragraph to several pages. There is water damage on the cover and on the corner of some pages, and there is some damage from iron gall.
