The volume contains cases brought before the Acting Police Magistrate at the Police Court at Freetown between 5 February and 15 May 1890. The document includes an index that lists the cases by the name of the defendant and provides information on the offence, the sentence, and the page number in the volume. The recording of the case includes information on the date, and the names of the Acting Police Magistrate, the plaintiff and the defendant. The offence, whether the prisoner pleaded guilty, and the sentence given are also recorded. The volume sometimes includes information on the oath of the constable, the plaintiff, the defendant, or of witnesses. The volume is tightly bound in blue cloth boards. There is water damage on the first and last pages.
