The volume contains cases brought before the Police Magistrate and the Justice of the Peace at the Police Court in Freetown between 6 August and November 1894. It includes an index that lists the cases by name of the prisoner, and provides details of the offence, the sentence and the page number in the volume. For each case, information is provided on the name of the Police Magistrate, the Justice of the Peace, the plaintiff and the defendant. Information is also provided about the nature and date of the offence. The reports of cases sometimes include statements by the plaintiff and defendant, as well as some witnesses. Information is also provided on whether the defendant pleaded guilty, and the sentence given. The cover is missing. There is extensive water damage, and some parts of pages are illegible. The binding is loose and there are some traces of mould. The ink is faded on some pages.
