al-Munīr lil-manār المنير للمنار
Khalīlī, Muḥammad Ghars al-Dīn ibn Ghars al-Dīn خليلي، محمد غرس الدين بن غرس الدين
- Scope & Content:
-
Didactic poem (أرجوزة) on the principles of Islamic jurisprudence (أصول الفقه) by the Ottoman scholar and imam at the Prophet's Mosque (المسجد النبوي) in Medina, Ghars al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad al-Khalīlī (غرس الدين محمد بن أحمد الخليلي, d. 1647-8).
The poem is a versification of the Epitome of the Minaret Concerning the Principles of Jurisprudence (مختصر المنار في أصول الفقه), by the Ḥanafī scholar Badr al-Dīn al-Ḥasan ibn ʻUmar (بدر الدين الحسن بن عمر), known as Ibn Ḥabīb al-Ḥalabī (ابن حبيب الحلبي, d. 1377, see f. 7r, lines 2-3), itself an epitome of The Minaret of Lights Concerning the Principles of Jurisprudence (منار الأنوار في أصول الفقه) by Abū al-Barakāt ʻAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad al-Nasafī (أبو البركات عبد الله بن أحمد النسفي, d. 1310).
Al-Khalīlī states that he composed the poem in the Great Mosque of Mecca (المسجد الحرام) during the year 1050/1640-1 (see f. 7r, lines 8-9).
Begins (f. 6v, lines 2-5):
الحمد لله القدير البارئ موضح المنار كالمنار
موفق الطلاب للأصول والحفظ للفروع والأصول
وأفضل الصلوة والسلام على رسول الملك العلام
محمد رب لواء الحمد
Ends (f. 29v, lines 1-5):
