Urjūzah fī al-qaḍāyā al-khamsah wa-al-ʻishrīn li-Abuqrāṭ ʻalá dalālat al-mawt
- Scope & Content:
-
Didactic poem (أرجوزة) on twenty-five signs that foretell a patient's death by Abū ʿAlī al-Ḥusayn ibn ʿAbd Allāh (أبو علي الحسين بن عبد الله), known as Ibn Sīnā (ابن سينا, latinised as Avicenna, d. 1037). The poem is a versification of the Book of Pustules Concerning Signs of Death (كتاب البثور في علامات الموت), an Arabic translation of a Greek treatise falsely attributed to Hippocrates (أبقراط and بقراط, d. ca 370 BC) known as Hippocrates' Perceptions and Indications Concerning Life and Death (Ἱπποκράτους νοήματά τε καὶ σημειώσεις περὶ ζωῆς καὶ θανάτου).
Begins (f. 93r, lines 3-5):
Ends (f. 95v, lines 9-12):
