A commentary on the Kitāb taqdimat al-maʿrifah li-Abuqrāṭ (كتاب تقدمة المعرفة لأبقراط), a translation of the Prognosticon of Hippocrates (أبقراط, d. ca 370 BC), probably by the physician and translator Abū Zayd Ḥunayn ibn Isḥāq al-‘Ibādī (أبو زيد حنين بن إسحق العبادي, d. 873).
The text of the commentary was set down in writing by Badr al-Dīn al-Muẓaffar ibn al-Qāḍī al-Baʿlabakkī (بدر الدين المظفرابن القاضي البعلبكي, d. ca 630/1232) based on the lectures given by his teacher ʻAbd al-Raḥīm ibn ʻAlī Muhadhdhab al-Dīn al-Dakhwār (عبد الرحيم بن علي مهذب الدين الدخوار ,1169/70-1230, ff. 58r, line 4-58v, line 6), and for this reason authorship is sometimes attributed to al-Baʾlabakkī.
The commentary is divided into three chapters (maqālāt), as mentioned in the introduction (f. 58v, lines 6-8):
- First chapter on prognosis of diseases (المقالة الأولى في تقدمة معرفة الأمراض; ff. 58v-79v);
- Second chapter on dropsy (المقالة الثانية في الاستسقاء; ff. 79v-119v);
- Third chapter on fevers (المقالة الثالثة في الحميات, ff. 119v-139r).
The text is followed by a recipe for a cinnamon electuary (معجون القرف), written in a different hand (f. 139v).

الاجتهاد...
