A Persian-language manual on medicine in nineteen chapters (faṣls) by ʽImad al-Din Maḥmud ibn Masʿūd Shirāzī (عماد الدين محمود بن مسعود شيرازى, fl. 16th century). The transcription was completed on Friday, 12 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 1099/8 October 1688 (see colophon, f. 98r, transcribed below).
Contents:
- Introduction (ff. 2v-5r);
- Chapters 2-16 on anatomy and diseases affecting the head, eye, ear, nose, mouth, throat, breast, heart, stomach, liver, gall-bladder, kidneys and bladder, bowels, genitals, and joints (ff. 5r-13v);
- Chapter 17 on tumours and ulcers (در اورام و ثبور, ff. 13v-14v);
- Chapter 18 on fevers (در حميات, ff. 14v-20r);
- Chapter 19, section 1 (در أغذية, ff. 20r-46r);
- Chapter 19, section 2 (در بعضى أدوية مفردة ومركبة, ff. 46r-98r).
The final chapter comprises the main part of the work and is subdivided into two sections (qisms): (1) on diet (ff. 20r-46r), and (2) simple and compound medicaments, classed according to their effect and the diseases for which they are used (ff. 46r-98r).
