A brass pointer, round in cross section. 84 cm long, decorated with attachments including a zee stone and cheap jewellery: imitation pearl, coral, amber and turquoise. Such pointers are used by Lama Manipas to indicate key scenes depicted on a narrative thangka of the story being told. Chak Dhar ལྕགས་མདའ (Wylie lcags mda') . Creation dates: The pointer is late 19th century, the attachments late 20th century.
Custodial history: This object formerly belonged to Tsering Drolma daughter of the late Lama Manipa Buchen Passang. It was donated to Dolma Ling nunnery in November 2018 and delivered as part of EAP project 1016 by Patrick Sutherland and Dechen Lhundup.
