Four leaves from a Bible in Latin:
f. 5r-v: A leaf from St Jerome's preface to the book of Kings, begins 'Viginti duas esse litteras ap[u]d hebreos', with a historiated initial, 'V' of a scholar with a halo teaching two figures from a book; the partial border contains a cleric holding a book reading to an ape-like figure and hybrids, one with a bishop's mitre. Ends at 'qui apud illos vocatur thareasra….'.
f. 6r-v: A leaf from the first book of Samuel (or I Kings), beginning at 1 Samuel 30:23 (imperfect), ‘..fratres mei de his que tradidit dominis nobis’ (f. 6r). The rubric ‘Explicit liber Regum Primus. Incipit Liber Regum Secundus’. A historiated initial ‘F’actum’ (f. 6v) at the beginning of II Samuel, of a figure raising his sword to chop off the head of a kneeling messenger, watched by David’; in the partial border are a hunter and 3 dogs chasing a rabbit below and a bird above. The text ends at II Samuel 1:1 (imperfect), ‘ut david reverteretur a cede amalech...’. a quire signature at the lower edge,‘et maneret’.
f. 7r-v: The outer half of a leaf containing the second column of text from the first book of Paralipomenon (I Chronicles) beginning at I Chronicles 29:23 (imperfect), ‘...Salomon super solium D[omi]ni’ (f. 7r). The rubric ‘Explicit paralipomenon liber primus. Incipit Secund[us]’. A historiated initial ‘C(onfortat[us])’ at the beginning of II Paralipomenon 1:1, of a king and followers praying at an altar to God above’ ; birds and hybrid creatures in the partial border (f. 7v). The text ends at of II Paralipomenon 1:5 (imperfect), ‘q[uo]d fabricatus fuerat beselehel...’
f. 8r-v: The outer half of a leaf containing the beginning of the second Epistle to Timothy, beginning with the rubric, ‘Explicit argum[en]tu[m]. Incipit Ep[isto]la S[e]c[un]da ad tymotheum’, A historiated initial ‘P(aulus)’ of St Paul, seated and teaching from a book, with an animal in the partial border, at the beginning of II Timothy 1 (f. 8r). The text ends at II Timothy 1:14 (imperfect), ‘p[er] sp[iritu]m s[an]ctu[m] qui habi...’; a partial border with foliate decoration (f. 8v).
Decoration:
4 large historiated initials in rose and or blue on coloured or gold grounds with partial foliate borders in colours and gold, incorporating hybrid creatures and animals.
