This manuscript is a collection of letters scripted by Umar Taal. The location and dates of scripting are unspecified. It contains handwritten copies of original correspondances written by the founder of the Tijaniyya Sufi Brotherhood, Shaykh Ahmed al-Tijani, during the early years of his arrival in Fez (Morocco) from Ain Mahdi (Algeria). The manuscript contains over a hundred correspondences. The dates they were written is not specified in all the letters. The letters address different issues and social groups. For example, the content of some letters are addressed to the poor people of Fez. Another letter is addressed to poor people in the entire Muslim world. In another letter, he addresses Islamic scholars in quest of knowledge and wisdom. In another letter, the shaykh addresses all his followers, providing them advice, urging them into the path to uplift their faith. Other letters are addressed to the leading Islamic scholars.
Ce manuscrit, rédigé par Al Hajj Umar Taal (c.a. 1794 - 1864), est une collection de lettres. Le lieu et les dates d’écriture n’ont pas été spécifiés. Le document est constitué de copies de lettres dont l’auteur est Shaykh Ahmad al-Tijan, le fondateur de la confrérie soufie Tidiane. Les lettres originales ont été écrites durant les premières années après l’arrivée du Skaykh à Fès (Maroc), en provenance d'Ain Mahdi (Algérie). Le manuscrit contient plus d'une centaine de correspondances. Les dates d’écriture ne sont pas spécifiées dans toutes les lettres. Les lettres traitent de différentes questions et s’adressent à différents groupes sociaux. Par exemple, le contenu de certaines lettres s’adresse aux gens pauvres de Fès. Une autre est adressée aussi aux pauvres, mais de tout le monde musulman. Une autre lettre s'adresse aux savants de l’Islam en quête de connaissances et de sagesse. Dans une autre lettre, le shaykh s'adresse à tous ses fidèles, leur fournissant des conseils et les incite à s'engager sur la voie de l'élévation de leur foi. D'autres lettres sont adressées aux principaux érudits islamiques.

Size and dimensions of original material: Height 21.5cm, width 16cm, depth 3mm.
Condition of original material: The manuscript is very old. Several pages are torn way.
Custodial history: Ceerno Seydou Nourou Tall owned the mabuscript, which he inherited from his family. After his death, Mountaga Tall inherited it. After the latter's death, Madani Taal inherited the book. He is now the custodian of the entire manuscript holding.
