Ceerno Madani Tall is the current custodian of the manuscripts recorded in his name and collected both from Dakar (Senegal). The MadaniSenegal collection includes 8 unbound and bound manuscripts for a total of 2949 pages. The books are of different sizes. Some of the manuscripts are originals written by Al Hajj Umar Taal or his Sufi disciples who lived and traveled with him in different parts of West Africa. Other manuscripts are handwritten copies of books written by Arab Islamic scholars. All the manuscripts in this collection are kept in the library of the Taal family in Dakar. The manuscripts cover various topics, including divine Creation, Islamic law, Islamic mysticism, Tijaniyya Sufism, Islamic history, correspondences, Islamic tradition, and a diverse body of Islamic praise poetry.
Extent: collection of 8 manuscripts.
Custodial history: Ceerno Seydou Nourou Tall (1862 - 1980) owned the mabuscript, which he inherited from his family. After his death, Mountaga Tall inherited it. After the latter's death, Madani Taal inherited the book. He is now the custodian of the entire manuscript holding.
