A treatise in ten chapters (فصول), by Abū ‘Alī al-Ḥusayn ibn ‘Abd Allāh (أبو علي الحسين بن عبد الله), known as Ibn Sīnā (ابن سينا, latinised as Avicenna, d. 1037), discussing the causes of the Earth’s remaining in its position in the middle of the heavens.
In the introduction, the author states that the text, ascribed in the present volume the title Risālah fī qiwām al-arḍ (رسالة في قوام الأرض, ff. 2r and 128r), was written at the request of the vizier Abū al-Ḥasan Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al‐Sahlī (or al-Suhaylī, أبو الحسن أحمد بن محمد السهلي, governed Gurganj, 999/389-1012/402, f. 128r, line 2).
