Title:

23 treatises on philosophy and science, most by Ibn Sīnā

Scope & Content:

Acollection of twenty-three works on various philosophical, metaphysical, andmedical topics, mostly by Abū ʻAlī al-Ḥusayn ibn ʻAbd Allāh (أبو علي الحسين بن عبد الله), known as Ibn Sīnā (ابن سينا, latinised as Avicenna, d. 1037).

Accordingto a colophon at the end of the fifteenth text in the volume, the transcriptionof the texts up to that point was completed by an un-named scribe, on a Sunday in Shaʿbān1019/October-November 1610, in the city of Iṣfahān (قد تمت الرسالات المتوالية من هذا [!] الصحف في يوم الأحد من شهر شعبان المبارك في بلدة الأصفهان [...] سنة ١٠١٩, f. 193v, lines 19-21 andmargin).

A pencil description in English of the volume is foundon f. 1r.

Titles – often variant titles – are added in red inkin a different hand in the margins at the beginning of each text, and compiledin a fihrist (table of contents, فهرست,f. 2r) preceding the texts. The fihrist gives the title of the 23^rdtext in the volume as the 22^nd (which is omitted).
