Treatise on celestial and meterological phenomena falsely attributed to Abū ʻAlī al-Ḥusayn ibn ʻAbd Allāh (أبو علي الحسين بن عبد الله), known as Ibn Sīnā (ابن سينا, latinised as Avicenna, d. 1037), but actually extracted from the Epistles of the Brethren of Purity (رسائل إخوان الصفاء, see Dimitri Gutas, Avicenna and the Aristotelian Tradition. Introduction to Reading Avicenna’s Philosophical Works [Leiden, Boston: 2014], p. 525).
The copy was completed Monday 17 Rabīʻ I 1221/May 23 (?) 1806 (see colophon, f. 239r, lines 24-25, transcribed below).
The text contains seven illustrations:
- (1) Diagram of the elemental and celestial spheres (f. 229v);
- (2) Diagram showing the lunar nodes and eclipse (f. 233r);
- (3) Two diagrams showing the solar eclipse and the Earth's umbra (f. 234v);
- (4) Diagram showing the effect of the moon on the tides (f. 235r);
- (5) Diagram showing the rotation of the celestial sphere (f. 235v);
- (6) Diagram showing that celestial phenomena become visible in the sky from east to west (f. 236v);
- (7) Diagram of the horizon (f. 237r).

قال الشيخ أبي علي الرايس (!) بن سينا سامحه الله وعفى عنه
الحمد لله رب العالمين وصلى الله على سيدنا ومولينا محمد خاتم
النبيين وعلى آله الطاهرين وخير خلقة الأكرمين واعلم علك الله
ونور قلبك أن العالم إنسان كبير نعني به السموات والأرض
Ends (f. 239r, lines 19-22):
... وهذا كاف فيما قصدت فيه الاختصار في علم الهيئة
والآثار السماوية لمن أراد الشروع في هذا الفن ليكون له مبدء سهلًا
ومنه يترقي إلى أكثير (!) هذا العلم بتوفيق الله وهو المعلم الحق لا رب
غيره ولا معبود سواه ...
