Discussion of astrological judgements (أحكام) with reference to medicine extracted from the fourth chapter (الباب الرابع) of the medical encyclopaedia Tadhkirat ūlī al-albāb wa-al-jāmi‘ lil-‘ajab al-‘ujāb (تذكرة أولي الألباب والجامع للعجب العجاب; see Dāwūd ibn ʻUmar al-Anṭākī, Tadhkirat ūlī al-albāb wa-bi-hāmishihi al-Nuzah al-mubhijah fī tashḥīdh al-adhhān wa-taʻdīl al-amzijah [Cairo: Maṭbaʻat al-Ḥalabī, 1308/1890], vol. 2, pp. 20-31) by Dāwūd al-Ḍarīr ibn ‘Umar al-Anṭākī (داوود الضرير بن عمر الأنطاكي; d. 1599).
The copy was completed shortly in the late afternoon of Saturday 1 Rabīʻ II 1222/27 (?) May 1807 by ʻAlī Faqīh (علي فقيه, see colophon, f. 254v, lines 21-27, transcribed below).
Begins (f. 239v, lines 1-6):
بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم الحمد لله رب العالمين والعافية للمتقين
والصلاة والسلام على محمد مبعوثين وآله وصحبه أجمعين
وبعد فهذه الرسالة في أحكام النجومية (!) من كتاب شيخ داود
أحكام اسم متى أطلق في المعقليات أريد به الأحوال الغيبية
المستنجة (!) من مقدمات معلومة وهي الكواكب من جهة حركاتها
ومكانها وزمانها ...
Ends (f. 254v, lines 12-16):
... مثاله
إذا سعد المقر متصلًا والزهرة منفصلة فاحكم للأول وإن
إن (!) نحس سعد من زحر وسعد آخر من المريخ فاالأول (!) أقوى
ولو سعد من جهة زحل وانتحس من غيره فعسر لا تلف هذا
ما يحتاج إليه هنا وسيأتي أحكام الفصول والبحارين في مواضها
Colophon (f. 254v, lines 17-27):
