Scope & Content:

Incomplete copy of a two-part alchemical text by the Seljuq chancellor (صاحب ديوان الإنشاء) and vizier, poet and alchemist Muʼayyad al-Dīn Abū Ismāʻīl al-Ḥusayn ibn ʻAlī al-Ṭughrāʼī (مؤيد الدين أبو إسماعيل الحسين بن علي الطغرائي, d. 1121).

The copy is defective at beginning, with folios missing before f. 13. Folios 2r-4v have been bound out of order and belong between ff. 53v and 54r in the present foliation. The second part of the text is the following item in the present volume (ff. 101v-160r).

The copy was completed by Darwīsh ʻAlī ibn Shams al-Dīn (درويش علي بن شمس الدين) in the late morning of Monday 10 Ṣafar 1091/1 March 1680 (see colophon, f. 101r, lines 20-22, transcribed below).

... نسأل الله تعالى يحسن جزانا على ما قدمناه من النية الجميلة وينفعنا

وخاص أوليائه بما جمعناه من هذا العلم المخزون ولا يطلع عليه إلا من أراد الآخرة وسعى

لها سعيها ويمدنا بعطاياه الجزيلة ويسهل لنا السبيل إلى العلم المنجي والعمل النافع ويجعلنا

من الشاكرين لا لآئه الناكرين لنعمائه المستعدين للقائه المحشورين في زمرة أوليائه

يوم يحشر المتقين إلى الرحمن وفدا إنه جواد كريم منان رحيم
