This material is a Tamil palm-leaf manuscript titled ‘Vataṉamār akaval’ from Eastern Province, Sri Lanka. The period of this manuscript is unknown but it is estimated to be from the period between 1901-1950. This manuscript is written by M. Vaalasingam in Batticaloa. ‘Vatanamar’ holds a special place among the rural deity worship. This deity is worshiped by cowherds as guardians of their animals. A section called Pūtaroppāri is also written in this book. Vatanamar's birth, mother and father are mentioned in this section. This manuscript has 30 pages and some front pages are in deteriorated state. The protective cover is not available.
