(1). Dyeline autograph cello and piano reduction score, in soft blue covers (pp. [1]-30). The only annotation is a date, in black ink, at the end of the score: 'Glasgow 20 Jan 68'.
(2). Hire Library Universal Edition. Unmarked dyeline autograph cello and piano reduction score, front cover (stamped 'Hire Library Universal Edition') and pp. 1-30. On p. 1, the work is designated as Opus 11. Dated at the end of the score within the copy: '20 Aug 1965-1 May 1969'. On the verso of the front cover, added by hand within the copy: 'Please note that this score does not contain the minor revisions made by the composer after the first performance, and should therefore not be used for rehearsal. UE.'
(3). Dyeline autograph cello and piano reduction score, in soft blue covers (pp. 1-30). With Universal Edition typed label on front cover. On p. 1, the work is designated as Opus 11. Many pages have elements of the score circled in red pencil; additional score in red pencil on p. 24. Bar numbers in pencil beginning on p. 18 mark the beginning of replacement score – see notes at the top of p. 19 ('replaces pp. 19-20') and p. 20 ('replaces pp. 21 & 22'). Dated at the end of the score within the copy: '20 Aug 1965-1 May 1969'.
(4). 'Corrected Copy'. Dyeline autograph cello and piano reduction score, in soft green covers (detached), pp. 1-30. With Universal Edition typed label on front cover identifying (in red type) the score as 'Corrected Copy'. On p. 1, the work is designated as Opus 11. Heavily annotated in red ink throughout. With pasted-down score on pp. 14, 16, 18. Dated at the end of the score within the copy: '20 Aug 1965-1 May 1969'.
(5). Corrected proof. Printed cello and piano reduction score, front cover and pp. 2-33. Copyright 1971 by Universal Edition (London) Ltd London. Engraved by PWM. Designated Opus 12 (p. 1). The score is annotated in red ink throughout, many of the annotations ticked in blue ink as if attended to. On the verso of the front cover is a circled note ('don't forget!') by Wood: 'Piano reduction by the composer. I am grateful to Miss Zara Nelsova and Mr. Colin Davis for technical and editorial assistance.' On the front cover, Wood has listed (in blue ink) the orchestra requirements for a full performance; the note includes the uncertain designation 'Op.12??'
