Treatise on arithmetic and geometry composed in 711/1312 by Jamāl al-Dīn Saʻīd ibn Muḥammad ibn Muṣaddiq al-Sughdī al-Turkistānī (جمال الدين سعيد بن محمد بن مصدق السغدي التركستاني) for his patron ʻAlāʼ al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Muḥammad ibn Maḥmūd al-Faryūmalī (? علاء الدين محمد بن محمد بن محمود الفريوملي [؟], see f. 23r, lines 2-4, transcribed below and Brockelmann, History of the Arabic Written Tradition, trans. by Joep Lameer [Leiden; Boston: Brill, 2016], vol. 2, p. 236).
The text is divided into two discourses (مقالتان), each subdivided into an introduction- (مقدمة), chapters (أبواب) and parts (فصول), and a conclusion (خاتمة). It is followed by a supplementary text, not announced in the preface, on algebra and the double false position (الجبر والمقابلة والخطأين, ff. 39v-43v).
The copy was completed at Baghdad on the morning of Saturday 9 Dhū al-Qaʻdah 748/9 February 1348 by Abū al-Muẓffar Muḥammad ibn Muḥammadshāh al-Tafrishī (أبو المظفر محمد بن محمدشاه التفرشي), and the copy was checked by collation in Jumādá I 758/April-May 1357 (see scribal colophon, f. 43v, lines 19-22, transcribed below, collation note to right of colophon, and colophons on ff. 21r, 87r, 96r and 136r).
