Commentary by Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Asʻad al-Dawānī (جلال الدين محمد بن أسعد الدواني, d. 1502) on his own philosophical treatise the Risālat al-Zawrāʼ (رسالة الزوراء, item 7 in the present volume).

Begins (f. 149v, lines 2-4):

أما بعد الحمد لوليه والصلوة على نبيه فإني لما فرغت من تهذيب الرسالة

الموسومة بالزوراء المشتملة على زبدة من الحقائق ونبذ من الدقائق ملى من الخصائص

الزمان إذ قد احتوت على أسرار لم تكن مكشوفة القناع إلى الآن ...

Ends (f. 159r, lines 1-8):

... ولا يكادون يفقهون

قولًا ولا يستطيعون عنها حولًا ترى إعالهم الذين حفظوا من كتب الصوفية كلمات وما لهم علم بمواردها

ومشارعها وينقلونها لا على وجهها بل تحرفون الكلم عن مواضعه جمعوا ما لا يشمون راحته

من كتبهم جمعًا وهم يحسبون أنهم يحسبون صنفًا أولئك كالأنعام بن إنهم أضل سبيلًا إعادتًا

إليه وسائر المسلمين من الضلال والزلل ووفقنا لما يغنينا

من العقد والعول والعمل وله الحمد حمدًا يوافي عتيد نعمه ويكافي مزيد

فضله وكرمه والصلوة والسلام على

سيدنا محمد وآله وصحبه

The text is followed by a fragment of a text on Sufism addressed to the brethren of deprivation (إخوان التجريد) and brethren of purity (إخوان الصفاء) beginning (f. 159v, lines 2-3):

هذه كلمات ذوقية ونكات شوقية كتبت لالتماس إخوان التجريد أيدهم الله تعالى

بنور التوحيد اعلموا إخوان الصفاء ...

That at least one subsequent folio continuing this text is missing is shown by the fact that the catchword at the foot of f. 159v is not taken up on f. 160r, which contains no text.
