For string quartet and string orchestra. Commissioned by the Cheltenham International Festival of Music. First performed on 15 July 1999 by the Chilingirian String Quartet and the London Mozart Players, conducted by Matthias Bamert.

- Printed full score, Chester Music 1999. Unbound, pp. 1-43. Supplied to Wood 15 May 2001. Occasional annotations and revision in red ink by Wood who has ticked and dated each page at the bottom: '16 May 01'.
(2). ff. 44-86. Unmarked photocopy of printed full score, Chester Music 2002. Unbound, pp. 1-43. Incorporating revisions of 16 May 2001 – e.g. the omission of two bars on f. 35.
(3). ff. 87-120. Printed full score, Chester Music 1999, pp. 1-46. Spiral wire binding. Annotated and revised in red ink, but not in Wood's hand. With manuscript score (mostly not in Wood's hand) loosely inserted:
