- Title:
- Ethel Boord's recipe book
- Scope & Content:
- A volume of lined paper bound in brown leather, embossed with the words Recipes and Ethel, containing handwritten recipes.
This volume probably belonged to Ethel Margaret Copeman (née Boord), daughter-in-law of the Reverend Canon Arthur Charles Copeman.
This volume includes a letter from Jack to Peter [Copeman], dated 6 Jul 1985, giving him the volume for his library. The letter states the volume was given to Ethel on her wedding day by her mother Maggie (Margaret D'Almaine Mackinlay) to pass on her recipes, written on pages 1-14. Additional recipes have been added by Ethel up to page 21. The letter states that any recipes includes on loose sheets date from after 1902; these are often written in other hands.
The volume begins with an alphabetical index, and the second half of the volume is blank but originally included the additional loose recipes accompanying the volume.
