Copy photographs prepared for the photographic plates, comprising various portraits of Eliot, juvenile compositions ('George Washington' and the title-page of a 'domestic periodical' in Eliot's hand called 'Fireside'), Eliot's earliest manuscript poem ('If time and space...') and holograph draft extracts (first and last page) from 'Difficulties of a Statesman'.
In addition, there are photographs that were not published: the remaining pages of 'Fireside' and a photograph of Eliot as a young man.
Also, captions for the plates supplied by John Hayward (manuscript, signed) and as copy typescript.
