A copy of a general letter from Mocha to William Phipps, Governor of Bombay, from Robert Cowan and Francis Dickinson at Mocha, dated 29 June 1724.
The letter reports on matters including: ships which had arrived at Mocha, and the goods they had brought with them; the high price of coffee and difficulties in procuring it; the arrival of Mr John Gerrard at Mocha, with news that he had been appointed Second, and Mr John Geekie Chief, by the Court of Directors; and Gerrard’s insistence that in the absence of Geekie he was to take on the role of Chief himself.
The letter was received via the ship Prince Augustus, 1 April 1725.
