This item is a collection to India Political Despatch No. 61 of 23 August 1866, from the Secretary of State for India to the Government of India Foreign Department (the Political Despatch itself is not included in this item). The collection consists of papers forwarded with the Government of India Foreign Department Letter Political No. 27 of 8 February 1866 to the Secretary of State for India (received 8 March 1866), on the subject of disputes between the Sultan of Muscat and the Wahabee Ameer [Wahhābī Amīr] of Nejed [Najd], including the Government of India sanctioning the grant of two eighteen-pounder guns and ammunition to the Sultan, but declining to loan him two lakhs of rupees.

The enclosed papers, dated 24 November 1865 to 17 January 1866, consist of: correspondence between the Secretary to the Government of Bombay and the Secretary to the Government of India in the Foreign Department; an enclosed letter from the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf to the Secretary to the Government of Bombay, dated 26 November 1865; and a note by the Assistant Secretary to the Government of India in the Foreign Department on the Muscat enclave of Gwadur [Gwadar] (ff 98-101).
