Scope & Content:

This volume consists of collections to India Political Despatches from the Secretary of State for India to the Government of India Foreign Department, numbers 56, 58, 60, 61, 62 and 65, dated 1866. The collections consist of papers forwarded with the Government of India’s Foreign Letters and the Government of Bombay’s Political Despatches to the Secretary of State for India. The collections were compiled for information purposes for the Secretary of State for India to compose the answering Political Despatches, which are not included in the collections. There is more than one collection to some of the Political Despatches.

Each collection includes a cover sheet, stating to which India Political Despatch or Bombay Political Despatch it is a collection, which India Foreign Letter the Political Despatch is in response to, and the subject of the collection.
