Title:

Papers Regarding the Persian Gulf, Vol 3 – Correspondence of the Bombay Government with the Government of India Regarding Lieutenant-Colonel Pelly's Policy towards the Wahhabis

Scope & Content:

This item is a collection to India Political Despatch No. 37 of 28 February 1867, from the Secretary of State for India to the Government of India Foreign Department (the Political Despatch itself is not included in this item). The collection consists of papers forwarded with the Government of India Foreign Letter Political No. 64 of 28 September 1866, to the Secretary of State for India, received 12 November 1866, forwarding a copy of further correspondence with the Government of India on the subject of the explanation submitted by the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, Lieutenant-Colonel Lewis Pelly, on his proceedings in the Persian Gulf. The Government of India’s letter is in continuation of its despatch No. 35 of 8 June 1866.

The enclosed papers consist of correspondence between the Government of India and the Secretary to the Government of Bombay, dated 23 May and 8 August 1866.
