This item is a collection to India Political Despatch No. 37 of 28 February 1867, from the Secretary of State for India to the Government of India Foreign Department (the Political Despatch itself is not included in this item). The collection consists of papers forwarded with the Government of India Foreign Letter Political, to the Secretary of State for India, No. 201 of 22 December 1866, received 19 January 1867, forwarding papers relating to the attempts made by Syud Toorkee [Sayyid Turkī bin Sa‘īd Āl Bū Sa‘īd], son of the late Syud Saeed [Sayyid Sa‘īd bin Sulṭān Āl Bū Sa‘īd], Imam of Muscat, to seize Muscat, and the discontinuance of the allowance recently granted to him. The papers consist of correspondence between the Government of Bombay and the Government of India Foreign Department, dated 6 October to 22 November 1866.
This correspondence includes enclosed correspondence from: Syud Saulem bin Thooenee bin Syud Saeed [Sayyid Thuwaynī bin Sa‘īd Āl Bū Sa‘īd, Sulṭān of Muscat]; the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, Lieutenant-Colonel Lewis Pelly; the Acting Native Agent at Muscat, Mirza Mahomed Houssein [Mīrzā Muḥammad Ḥusayn]; Syud Toorkee; the Acting Agent at Shargah, Hajee Abdul Rahman [Ḥājjī ‘Abd al-Raḥmān]; the ‘Chief’ of Debaye [Dubai], Sheikh Hushur bin Muktoom [Shaikh Ḥashr bin Maktūm Āl Bū Falāsah].
