This item is a collection to India Political Despatch No. 37 of 28 February 1867, from the Secretary of State for India to the Government of India Foreign Department (the Political Despatch itself is not included in this item). The collection consists of papers forwarded with the Government of India Foreign Letter Political, to the Secretary of State for India, No. 119 of 30 June 1866, received 7 August 1866, forwarding papers relating to negotiations between the British Resident in the Persian Gulf, Lieutenant-Colonel Lewis Pelly, and the Envoy of the ‘Wahhabee [Wahhābī] Power’ in Central Arabia [the Amīr of Najd].

The papers consists of correspondence by letter and telegram between the Secretary to the Government of India in the Foreign Department and the Secretary to the Government of Bombay, dated 27 April to 11 June 1866. The papers also include enclosed correspondence, dated 28 January to 4 May 1866, from: the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf, Lieutenant-Colonel Lewis Pelly; Abdelleh ben Faysal [Abdullāh bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd], Ruler [Amīr] of Najd; and Mahomed ben Abdullah ben Maneh (also spelled Maneb) [Muḥammad bin ‘Abdullāh bin Māni‘(?)], Envoy of the Ruler of Najd.
