- This item is a collection to India Political Despatch No. 1 of 6 January 1869, from the Secretary of State for India to the Government of India Foreign Department (the Political Despatch itself is not included in this item). The collection consists of papers forwarded with the Government of India Foreign Department Letter Political No. 124 of 1 August 1868 to the Secretary of State for India (received 7 September 1868). The papers cover the subject of the breach of the maritime truce by Sheikh Mohamed bin Khaleefa [Muḥammad bin Khalīfah Āl Khalīfah], Ruler of Bahrain, and Sheikh Saeed bin Khaleefa [Zāyid bin Khalīfah Āl Nahyān], Ruler of Aboodabhabee [Abu Dhabi], and the attack launched by Aboodabhabee on tribes from Guttar [Qatar]. Also discussed are the measures taken by the Government of India. The collection was compiled for information purposes for the Secretary of State for India to compose the answering Political Despatch.
