Continuation of papers regarding the 1913 uprising of the Ibāḍī imamate and the tribes of the interior of Oman under the leadership of Sālim bin Rāshid al-Kharūṣī, against the authority of the Sultan of Muscat and Oman, Taymūr bin Fayṣal Āl Bū Sa‘īd.
The papers consist of reports and correspondence submitted by the Political Agent at Muscat [Major L B Howarth, then Ronald Evelyn Leslie Wingate, then Major M E Rae] and the Political Resident in the Persian Gulf [Lieutenant-Colonel Arthur Prescott Trevor], plus correspondence between the India Office Political Department, the Government of India Foreign and Political Department, and the Senior Naval Officer in the Persian Gulf. The file also contains translations of letters received from Taymūr bin Fayṣal Āl Bū Sa‘īd, and Shaikh Isa bin Salih al Harithi.
The following topics are covered: implementation of reforms to the customs and judicial administration at Muscat; a loan of 6 1/2 lakhs of rupees to pay off the Sultanate's debts; the time spent by the Sultan of Muscat in India, and efforts to encourage him to spend more time administering his regime; the appointment of Captain McCallum [former Political Agent at Kuwait] as Wazir to the Sultan; negotiations conducted between the Political Agent at Muscat and the leading figures of the Ibāḍī rebellion; the death of the Imam [Sālim bin Rāshid al-Kharūṣī]; the negotiation of the 1920 Treaty of Sib [As Sīb], which brought an end to the uprising; salutes to be granted to the Council of Ministers; and punitive actions taken against the Yal Saad tribe of the Batinah coast (ff 1-68).
