Part 10 comprises correspondence and other papers relating to the return or disposal of enemy (Turkish or German) property and other assets in Mesopotamia [Iraq] and the Persian Gulf at the end of the First World War. The volume includes: an enquiry from the Hamburg firm Robert Wönckhaus & Company, which had offices in various places in the Persian Gulf, including Bahrain, regarding the liquidation of their assets in the Gulf, and the nature of Britain’s jurisdiction in Bahrain; an enquiry from the US ambassador in London on the nature of British jurisdiction in Bahrain, and regulations pertaining to the import of narcotics into Bahrain; statements of balances and details of those firms whose assets were in the hands of the Department of the Controller of Hostile Trading Concerns in Mesopotamia; a printed copy of the India Treaty of Peace Order in Council, dated 28 June 1920 (ff 40-53); the liquidation of enemy property in territories covered by the Persian Gulf Order in Council of 1907.
