Scope & Content:

Correspondence and other papers relating to events during the invasion of Hedjaz [Hejaz] by Wahabi [Wahhabi] forces under the Sultan of Najd, Ibn Saud [‘Abd al-‘Azīz bin ‘Abd al-Raḥmān bin Fayṣal Āl Sa‘ūd]. The papers cover: the fall of Medina; the surrender of Jeddah; the flight from Jeddah and subsequent abdication of King Ali of Hejaz [‘Alī bin Ḥusayn al-Hāshimī]; reports of the desecration of shrines and tombs by Wahabi troops, including reports of damage to the Prophet Muhammad’s tomb at Medina; responses to reports of the desecration of shrines and tombs from various Muslim organisations in India; a proposal for the repair of the Prophet Muhammad’s tomb at Medina, offered by the Nizam of Hyderabad.
