These folios include:

f. 5r: Alcuin's Carmen xviii, copied in the second half of the 10th century;

5v–36v: Frithegod's Breviloquium Vitae beati Wilfridi (Bibliotheca Hagiographica Latina, numbers 8891–92), copied in the mid-10th century, soon after the text was composed for Oda, archbishop of Canterbury. The scribe of the manuscript is Contintental, leading some scholars to suggest this is an autograph copy by Frithegod. Later in the tenth century, Old English glosses were added to the text.

Decoration: initials and rubrics in black and red throughout.

Custodial History:

Origin: ? Christ Church Cathedral, Canterbury. The scribe of the text is Continental, and the scribe makes several stylistic corrections and interventions, which may indicate that these folios may contain Frithegod's autograph copy of the text (see Lapidge 'Frithegodus' (2004), pp. 134-45, and Gameson, 'Anglo-Saxon Scribes' (2012), p. 100). Frithegod wrote the text while he was a member of the household of Oda, archbishop of Canterbury, so if this is his autograph copy, he may have written this manuscript while at Christ Church. The scribe of main text also contributed to another mid-10th-century copy of Frithegod's Breviloquium, along with two other Continental and two English scribes (St Petersburg, National Library of Russia, MS Lat.O.V.XIV.1, formerly MS Lat.Q.v.XIV.1; see Gameson, 'Anglo-Saxon Scribes' (2012), p. 100).

Provenance:

Second half of 10th century: Old English glosses added.

The Benedictine abbey of Glastonbury: title added in 13th century, which corresponds exactly with the title in Glastonbury's library catalogue of 1247 or 1248 (f. 5r); seen at Glastonbury in the 16th century by John Leland (see Carley, 'John Leland' (1986), p. 115).

John Joscelyn (b. 1529, d. 1603), Old English scholar and Church of England clergyman: signed note (f. 5r).
