Papal letters

This folio, copied in the 1st quarter of the 12th century, contains papal letters. Like ff. 2r-7v, it was excised from Cotton Tiberius A II, a Gospel-book which belonged to Christ Church by the mid-10th century. It includes:
f. 9*r: the end of a letter, which mentions 'frater Bertualdus Cantuariorum provinciae presul';
f. 9*r-v: text purporting to be a letter from Pope Sergius to Kings Æthelred, Alfred, and Æthelwulf;
f. 9*v: letter from Pope Pascal II to Anselm, archbishop of Canterbury.
