Origin: ? South-East Wales (perhaps Monmouth) or ? the Benedictine abbey of St Peter, Gloucester: the saints and documents featured in these folios were often connected to these areas or houses (see Hughes, 'British Museum' (1958), pp. 188-197 and Ker, Books (1985), p. 493).

? Sir John Prise [Syr Siôn ap Rhys] (b. 1501/2, d. 1555), administrator and scholar: note in his hand (f. 42v; see Ker, Books (1985), pp. 487, 493).
Sir Henry Sidney (b. 1529, d. 1586), lord deputy of Ireland and courtier: owned by him (according to Cambridge, Corpus Christi College, 101, art. 45).
Matthew Parker (b. 1504, d. 1575), archbishop of Canterbury: possibly his foliation in red (see Ker, Books (1985), p. 493).
