This codex contains:
f. 157: a letter of Pope Innocent III addressed to the bishops of Ely, London and Worcester, copied in the 1st quarter of the 13th century;
ff 158-228: a vita of Thomas Becket known as Quadrilogus II (Bibliotheca Hagiographica Latina, no. 8194), copied in the 1st half of the 13th century;
ff. 229r-235v: a collection of texts on coronations and other issues, including De indulgencia apud assisium, Coronatio Edwardi secundi and La maniere comment le roy sera coronee, copied in the 14th century;
ff. 236r-291v: A vita of St Edward the Confessor by Aelred of Rievaulx (Bibliotheca Hagiographica Latina, no. 2423), a vita of Thomas Becket, archbishop of Canterbury by Edward Grim (Bibliotheca Hagiographica Latina, no. 8182) and a vita of Edmund Rich, archbishop of Canterbury (compare Bibliotheca Hagiographica Latina, no. 2405), copied in the 2nd half of the 14th century.

Dimensions: Cotton Vitellius C XII/2 binding 340 x 270 mm (text space maximum 225 x 155 mm).
Foliation: ff. 157-291 (+ 1 unfoliated modern paper flyleaf at the beginning and 2 at the end).
Binding: BM/BL inhouse, rebound in 1964.
- Custodial History:
- Sir Robert Bruce Cotton (b. 1571, d. 1631), 1st baronet, antiquary and politician. Cotton’s collection was augmented by his son, Sir Thomas Cotton (b. 1594, d. 1662), 2nd baronet, and his grandson, Sir John Cotton. Sir John Cotton (b. 1621, d. 1702), 3rd baronet: bequeathed the entire Cotton collection of books and manuscripts to trustees ‘for Publick Use and Advantage’, 12 and 13 William III, c. 7. Formed one of the foundation collections of the British Museum in 1753.
