1. De taxone (ff. 58r-58v). The text belongs to the β branch of the tradition. Rubric (f. 58r): 'Incipit Epystola de bestiola quam / aliqui melem vocant. Quidam ve/ro Taxonem. A Rege egyptiorum / Octaviano missa', incipit: 'Rex egyptiorum Octaviano au/gusto salutem. Plurimis exem/plis expertus sum victoriam tuam / et prudentiam', explicit (f. 58v): 'exercitibus tuis non erit / periculum prodest adversus pestem qua barbari infertur'. Edited in Howald and Sigerist 1927, pp. 229-32.
