The letter is forwarding two dispatches (not present) from Mohommed Ali Khan [Muḥammad ‘Alī Khān], son of the late Jaffer Ali Khan [Ja‘afar ‘Alī Khān], addressed to Marquess Hastings (Francis Rawdon-Hastings) and the Governor of Fort Saint George, Madras. The remainder of the letter concerns the British pension paid to Jaffer Ali Khan, and outlines the distress its suspension (due to his death) has caused to his family; the Resident hopes that the the Government will accept Mohommed Ali Khan's application for the pension payments to continue. The dates of the surrounding letters suggest that the date of this letter lies between 2 and 15 March 1818.
