- Vicente Manoel Ferreira, slave, claimed that he had been freed by his late mistress, Joanna Maria Ferreira, before her death as shown in a document attached to the proceedings. However, without his mistress knowledge, her husband had sold him to captain Antonio Joaquim Lobato de Miranda, and his right to freedom has been violated since then.
