Portrait group posed with theodolite. The four figures in the group are (left to right): Thomas George Montgomerie (1830-1878), Trigonometrical Survey from 1852; Sir Andrew Scott Waugh (1810-1878), Trigonometrical Survey from 1832, Surveyor-General of India 1843-61; James Thomas Walker (1826-1896), Superintendent of the Trigonometrical Survey 1861-83, Surveyor-General of India 1878-83; Sir Henry Edward Landor Thuillier (1813-1906), Surveyor-General 1861-78. With autographs of Waugh, Thhuillier and Walker, cut from letters, pasted on the page beneath the photograph. Photograph taken, probably in Kashmir, in about 1857.
