A hill fort captured from the Mahrattas is 1919 by Colonel Prother, Bombay Army. On that occasion the sound of his mortars (cannons were of little use at that elevation) could be heard in Bombay. The vicinity is noted locally for its hot sulphur springs, at one of which Indians can be seen bathing. Another was tacitly set aside for European district off icers in which to dip their canine pets.
