The cemetery enclosed and formerly, at least well cared for. The background is the scrub jungle of Karwar Head.
On the very narrow neck between Karwar Head and Beitcul. It remained unconsecrated for some years, but in 1867 it became known that Dr Harding, Bishop of Calcutta was aboard a steamer in the bay on his way to visit Bishop of Bombay. The Metropolitan, to give him his full title, was begged to come ashore and perform the accustomed rites. This his Lordship did, being in Karwar about two hours before returning to the ship.
