[Close view of carved stone door in the colonnade of the Rani Hajira or Tombs of the Queens, Ahmadabad.] Photographer: Lyon, Edmund David
- Scope & Content:
-
Genre: Architectural Photography
Lyon describes the photograph as follows: 'At each of the corners of the colonnade which surrounds the Quadrangle of the Ranee Hazeera enclosure are 4 stone doors, two of which are shown in these two Photographs. The carving is good but the appearance is very heavy, and lacks the relief which would have been obtained had the slabs been cut through as in the windows'. Another copy at Photo 1000/31 (3215).
