The building cannot be traced from the caption as given in the album. T. Bloch, 'A list of the photographic negatives of Indian antiquities in the collection of the Indian Museum: with which is incorporated the list of similar negatives in the possession of the the India Office' (Calcutta, 1900) describes it as the Temple of Mahadeva, Sonepur: view from north-east). It appears to be the temple described Henry Cousens, 'Revised list of antiquarian remains in the Bombay Presidency ... originally compiled by J. Burgess' (Bombay, 1897), p. 93: 'Desar, near Sonipur, 20 miles south from Halol. The Rudra Mala, an old stone temple of Siva, of small size, but its walls are richly carved, perhaps of the 14th century.'
