Central portion of east façade of the Queen's Mosque or Rani Rupavati Masjid, Mirzapur, Ahmadabad. Photographer: Cousens, Henry
- Scope & Content:
-
Genre: Architectural Photography
Similar to print 1733, but a closer view of the centre of the building, showing the entrance arch, flanked by truncated minarets. Printed from a broken plate. The attribution of this photograph to E. D. Lyon in T. Bloch, 'A list of the photographic negatives of Indian antiquities in the collection of the Indian Museum: with which is incorporated the list of similar negatives in the possession of the the India Office' (Calcutta, 1900) is almost certainly incorrect, and it was probably taken on the same occasion as 1733. Lyon's view of the building (see print 3226), taken c. 1868, shows it before repairs had been made to the roofline.
