The view looks north along the east front of the Motisah Tuk towards the temples on the northern ridge. The tallest tower in the Chaumukh or Khartaravasi Tuk is that of the Chaumukh or Adinatha Temple. Described in E. D. Lyon, 'Notes to accompany a series of photographs designed to illustrate the ancient architecture of Western India' (Geneva, 1871), p. 15: 'Leaving the Motisah enclosure by the same path by which it was entered; the principal street, if the word be permitted, turns to the right and passes between the south wall of the Motisah and the north wall of the Vimalvasi enclosure; instead however of following this, it will be better to proceed at once to visit the group of temples which crown the southern summit of the hill, and for this purpose it will be necessary to mount a considerable flight of steps which will be seen on the left immediately after passing the turn in the street. The view represented in this photograph is taken from the top of these steps, and shows the entrance to the Morisah enclosure in the foreground, with the great Chawmukh temple standing high up in the distance situated as it is on the Northern summit of the Hill.'
