View from the south-west of Rani Sipri's Mosque and Tomb, Ahmadabad. Photographer: Lyon, Edmund David
- Scope & Content:
-
Genre: Architectural Photography
View from the road looking towards the south elevation of the mosque, with the dome of the tomb visible in the right background. India Museum no. 1455. Received from Captain Lyon 7 February 1871. Duplicate print at Photo 1001 (3212).
564. - Gives a more general view of the two windows on the South end of the mosque as well as the buttresses at the back. It shows also the ruinous state in which it is at present left, and truly sad is it, that in this city alone of all the others to be found in India, both the Government and the natives themselves seem utterly indifferent, when they see the beautiful buildings with which their capital is adorned daily crumbling to ruins before their eyes, so that neither by the one nor the other is any effort made to stay the work of decay.
